Vittoria Folding Tire Mezcal III 4C 29x2.25 XC-Trail G2.0 Black

Mezcal is the versatile all-around that gets you to the podium, time and time again. Riding a combination of terrain? This is the choice of professionals. The Mezcal features a unique low profile tread that is closely spaced in the center, for low rolling resistance and durability. Countless effective edges work together to grip on a variety of terrain, while directional offset on each knob makes for traction on roots and rocks. The best tires are made with the best casing and compound, and the Mezcal TNT is no exception. Using the proprietary graphene-enhanced 4C compound, the Mezcal hits the holy grail of XC tires; Grip, durability and low weight.

Characteristics:

  • XC rim with a densely packed, low profile, knob configuration for maximum speed.
  • Alternative center edge tread for low rolling resistance
  • Numerous effective edges for cornering, braking and climbing traction
  • The GRAPHENE 2.0 functionalized compound offers the best grip.
  • 4 tread compounds (4C) for increased tread life.

Specifications

  • 120 TPI

Carcass thread density is measured in threads per inch (one inch = 25.4mm) and is known as TPI. The carcass is the heart of the tire or tubular and is made of rubber and threads (which can be nylon, cotton, Kevlar or Corespun).

Standard road tires generally have casings from 24-55 TPI. Vittoria tires and tubulars range from 26 TPI to 320 TPI. Riders looking for higher performance are more likely to choose higher TPI tires.

For many sport racers, folding tires around 150 TPI are a good overall compromise for weight, rolling resistance, durability, and comfort. A higher TPI provides the benefit of lower weight and rolling resistance, but at a durability penalty. Still, riders looking to play harder often look for tubulars and open tubulars with a TPI of 200 or higher.

  • 4C

4 Compounds (4C) is exclusively developed by Vittoria to achieve performance products without compromise. Vittoria 4C is a layering process that uses 4 separate compounds in the same tread.
The 4C process offers unmatched versatility, by allowing for separate base and surface compounds, both in the center and on the side areas of the tread. Benefiting from the different properties of each compound, including G+ Isotech*, its distribution is extensively tested to offer the best products imaginable.

  • DEVELOPED BY GRAPHENE

Vittoria only uses the most premium form of graphene (pristine) to unlock the most important improvements for all of our products.
The pristine Graphene Vittoria uses, compared to other forms of graphene, offers 4-6 major improvements for the material it is applied to (carbon for wheels, rubber for tires).

  • T.N.T.
    • 120 TPI nylon casing for XC and 60 TPI for All Mountain / Enduro (without butyl inner lining)
    • Additional side protection layer (nylon fabric and abrasion resistant rubber compound)
    • Tubeless Claw (fits both standard and tubeless rims)

Vittoria TNT (Tube-No Tube) rims are up to 100g lighter than standard tubeless tubes, but have reinforced sidewalls with massive cut resistance. Running tubeless on UST rims with Pit Stop cartridge or Pit Stop liquid latex, TNT rims offer better camber, faster rolling and less flats, at lower pressure. Adjustment is easy: TNT's tire bead easily locks into the rim and the tire inflates with a standard hand pump. The Pit Stop Cartridge contains just 35g of foam, as effective as 50-60g of liquid latex, and is a reliable solution for tubeless running. TNT tires can still be used with an inner tube if the rider prefers, and are still lightweight for a beefed up tire.

    Advantages of TNT Latex:

TNT + Pit Stop vs. standard tubeless tire

    • lighter (up to 100g less per wheel)
    • stronger sidewall resists cuts and tears
    • faster over the ground - eliminates rolling resistance from the extra layer of butyl
    • more stable at lower pressures

TNT + Pit Stop vs. standard tire with latex sealant

    • lower inflation pressures
    • sidewall more resistant to cuts and tears
    • no need to worry about sidewall failure or bead displacement, causing a sudden loss of pressure
    • easy installation with floor or manual pump
