• Instant Release: The INSTANT RELEASE shifting replaces the two-stage click and release shifting we're used to. With the INSTANT RELEASE derailleur, the cable is released as soon as the lever is pulled, making gear changes as quick as possible. Whether upshifting with a higher normal rear derailleur or downshifting with a lower normal rear derailleur, a faster shifter is always a better gear.
• Multi Release: Previous shifting systems shifted faster in one direction than the other. Choosing between upper normal and lower normal always meant sacrificing shifting speed in one direction. Now, with the new MULTI-SHIFT, you can shift two sprockets with a single shift of the lever. The result: the fastest possible shifting in both directions regardless of rear derailleur choice.
• 2-Way Release: The RAPIDFIRE PLUS front derailleur lever is often called the trigger, because it works like a pistol, by pulling the trigger. The drive lever on the new RAPIDFIRE PLUS front derailleurs for the SHIMANO ALIVIO to XTR groupsets can be operated in the same way, but adds the ability to activate a drive lever by pressing with your thumb.
