The chain, in its apparent simplicity, plays a critical and fundamental role in the safety of the cyclist and in optimizing the entire transmission mechanism. The new Super Record 12 Speed chain also had to be redesigned to interface with all the other new drivetrain components. Therefore, the first fundamental objective has been to reduce its global dimensions . Now the width is 5.15 millimeters, also thanks to the new pins perfectly aligned with the outer surface of the links.

The second objective was to safeguard performance thanks to the Ultra-link system that provides security and durability to the chain and a special treatment that guarantees extremely high shifting smoothness and precision.
